Winter 2014: Young Voices
The Bridge
Poetry by Kate LeBlanc
The bridge looms, a dark giant standing silent, protecting me. It watches, wishing it could join as life flows below it. Decades pass, the bridge stays. It rumbles and creaks but it is strong. It will stand forever, tucked away under centuries of grime and dust. Birds roost on its twisted metal sides. Lovers meet in its cool dark shadows whispering secrets that only the bridge knows.
