Artist Statement:
Two old household rhymes floated through my head while working on this piece. One tells us "Monday's Child is fair of face, Tuesday's Child is full of grace..." and so on. Another urges housewives to "Wash on Monday, Iron on Tuesday, Mend on Wednesday..." with suggestions for household and spiritual cleanliness throughout the week. The final painting is meant to stir thoughts both nostalgic and mystical, allowing the viewer to consider how much the concepts of fortune, fate, and luck govern her own life.
