Artist Statement:
My work, right down to the objects I paint an my color palette, is largely and unwittingly governed by the seasons in the Northwest. This piece was painted in a bright spell of summer. I thought of summers past and what the season meant to me, to those who hold it dear. Summer, I realized, was filled with a certain aliveness that activates all of the senses. I like to think that the senses of taste and touch are tickled when viewing this piece, while its symmetry hints at a general sense of well being.
