Summer 2016: Artwork
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden #5
by Katherine Mead
Size: 12" x 12"
Medium: Collage (found paper, cyanotype, tissue and vintage stamps,) acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, prisma pencil, ink and washi tape
Artist Statement:
During the time I was creating the art for this show my sister was in the midst of being treated for lymphatic brain cancer. It was an emotionally treacherous time for myself and my family. The beauty of the rose with its thorny hazards was the perfect metaphor for the myriad of conflicting emotions I was maneuvering through.
