Summer 2016: Artwork
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden #4
by Katherine Mead
Size: 12" x 12"
Medium: Collage (found paper, cyanotype, tissue and vintage stamps,) acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, prisma pencil, ink and washi tape
Artist Statement:
For this series I chose to use the rose, a universal symbol of perfect beauty, contrasted in a milieu of tattered, aged, paper marked with wear, scratches and flaws. The somber, deep indigo blues and aubergine add to the moodiness and strong contrast in each piece.
