Summer 2016: Artwork
I Never Promised You a Rose Garden #1
by Katherine Mead
Size: 12" x 12"
Medium: Collage (found paper, cyanotype, tissue and vintage stamps,) acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, prisma pencil, ink and washi tape
Artist Statement:
This series of Rose compositions was created as part of a recent collaborative gallery show: Flora+Fiber+Wax: connections. Encaustic artist Claudia Hollister and I employed botanical themes and cyanotype prints in our work to provide an overlapping visual connection. Cyanotype is a chemical reaction print which employs sunlight to create images that can range in color from deep indigo blue to rich brown, black or gray.
